Crystal has always sought to make skiing and snow sports more accessible, more fun and better value.
We were founded in 1981 as a ski and snowsports specialist taking UK customers to European ski resorts, complemented by a summer programme focused on European lake and mountain destinations.
Skiing had always been a pastime associated with the well off, but Crystal set itself apart by offering unbeatable value for money. Over the next 15 years the company grew rapidly and by the 1990s Crystal had become the largest ski operator in the UK, a position it still holds today.
Following various changes of ownership, Crystal was acquired by Thomson Holidays in 1997. After the merger of Thomson with First Choice Holidays in 2007, Crystal became one of the largest brands in the Specialist & Activity sector within TUI Group.
Today, Crystal Ski Holidays takes more than 200,000 people to some of the best ski resorts in Europe and North America.
Over the years Crystal has always stayed true to its passion for the mountains. Ski is the company’s focus and this continues today, with the widest choice of accommodation of any UK operator. Crystal Finest was launched in 2007, moving us into more luxurious territory, while still maintaining a focus on affordability.
We have always prided ourselves on offering innovative products and concepts, for example the much-imitated Crystal Ski +, ‘what-you-see-is-what-you-pay’ online pricing, the industry-first Crystal iPack – online resort information that’s available 4 weeks pre-departure over the internet.
Crystal’s digital service continued to evolve in winter 2016-17 with a focus on supporting customers on every step of their journey to the mountains. Crystal has invested in mobile communications with the launch of a new text message service, and this year, a larger digital response team will be ready to give speedy help not just early morning, but throughout the weekend – 24 hours a day from Friday until Monday – to support those who have a last minute question before heading out to the mountains, need help during their journey or are still planning their holiday.
Also based on customer feedback, Crystal will offer holidaymakers the opportunity to pre-book a call with their resort team at a time that suits them best, to discuss all elements of their upcoming holiday, from childcare to what wine they prefer in their chalet, before they even start packing.
Crystal is also introducing different ways to assist skiers finding the ski right resort for their requirements. New tools on the website allow visitors to easily return to recent searches; compare and share their holiday plans with fellow skiers and find Crystal’s recommended hotels for each resort.
