– Short breaks to Italy and the Algarve
– 15 Finest hotels: luxury 4 or 5 star hotels in prime locations, excellent restaurants and first-rate service
– Five additional ‘Discovery’ packages
Customer research focussed on experienced travellers and the core needs were distilled into the following:
– balance of culture and relaxation, variety of beach and activity;
– indulge and enjoy good food, beautiful places and nice surroundings;
– escape the 9-5;
– space to relax;
– exploring and discovering local culture.
Many felt that these needs were not being adequately met by the traditional holiday package. Although most people recognised the value of those holidays there were some negative connotations around the concept, the way in which it is delivered and even in the word ‘package’.
The research led to a thorough review of Crystal Summer and as a result our holidays have now been designed to offer a wider mix of destinations that meets the core needs as well as flexible options through a mixture of scheduled and charter flights as well as car hire options and private transfers in selected destinations.
Simon Cross, managing director Crystal said: “Crystal now seeks to offer a more personalised experience, accommodation in smaller, boutique hotels, villas and apartments with a range of board options to allow customers the freedom to be spontaneous, to explore and choose for themselves how they spend their time and money. The holidays are primarily focussed on the adult market and designed to suit a sophisticated, cultured and adventurous holidaymaker.”
