For the first time, The Times, The Sunday Times and The Sunday Times Travel magazine have come together to announce the winners of the inaugural Travel Awards voted for by their globe-trotting readers. Thousands have put fingers to keyboard to tell them their favourite destinations, hotels and travel companies, and on Saturday night (5 October 2013) they rewarded the best in the business with a coveted gong at a glittering ceremony.
The 19 categories include the best European, worldwide and UK country, city, hotel, spa and cruises, airline, as well as specialist and mainstream tour operators.
The award ceremony was hosted by Sir Ranulph Fiennes OBE at La Vallette Hall on Malta. Formerly the Great Magazine Ward, La Valette Hall is one of the most elegant banqueting halls in the Mediterranean, an architectural gem with its splendid vaulted ceilings. Guests of the ceremony were staying at the five-star Corinthia Palace Hotel on Malta.
Crystal Ski walked away with the prize of the best ski operator and Mike Ward, head of purchasing, received this inaugural Travel Award on behalf of Crystal Ski.
“We are delighted to have received this award. We set out several years ago to improve the service our customers receive when purchasing ski holidays and are pleased that the hard work that went into the successful implementation of our innovative initiatives has been recognised”. Mike Ward – head of purchasing.
