Crystal is launching a new concept with the exciting range of summer ‘immersion holidays’ featured in its new 2011 Summer brochure.

Designed to appeal to holidaymakers’ increasing demand for ‘experience holidays’, Crystal Summer 2011 is packed with holidays that make the best of the local terrain as well as cultural experiences.

Like ski holidays each holiday is based around ‘resorts’ – a holiday centre – and is then designed to make use of all the surrounding activities and cultural attractions to fully ‘immerse’ holidaymakers in the local area and provide them with an exciting, stimulating and rewarding holiday.

Crystal Summer 2011 will feature over 90 destinations in 12 countries.

The 14 nights ‘rail & sail’ independent tour in Western Canada starts by taking the Rocky Mountaineer train from Vancouver to Banff in Alberta, then travel by coach up to the Alaskan border via the Icefields Parkway and the final leg is a cruise to Vancouver Island through the straits and islands of the Inside Passage.

In Kitzbühel, Austria, holidaymakers can experience canoeing and white-water rafting, mountain biking, hiking in the tranquil Kitzbüheler Alps as well as visit cultural Salzburg for Mozart tours and concerts.

The Croatian resort of Bol on Brac Island is renowned for its windsurfing, but there are other ways to cool off too: jet-skis, pedaloes, parasailing and banana boats – or just take a relaxing swim on its most famous beach, the white pebbled ‘Zlatni Rat’ (Golden Horn) which changes shape depending on the wind direction.

Crystal’s finest hotels on Lake Maggiore in Italy will add some sparkle to the summer holiday. Experience first hand authentic Italian cuisine techniques and recipes during cookery lessons at the five-star Villa e Palazzo Aminta hotel in Stresa before discovering the fishing island Isola dei Pescatori and Isola Bella with its well kept gardens and palace.

Crystal Summer 2011 features holidays with various activities, beaches, water sports, cultural attractions, spa facilities, escorted and independent tours, cruise plus, excursions and more!

Its launch followed customer research which showed:

  • holidaymakers now demand challenge and excitement
  • customers are well-travelled and so their holiday has to offer more than the destination alone
  • although the destination is still a vital ingredient, experience and activities are becoming more significant factors in the holiday choice

Managing director Simon Cross said: “Crystal is the only UK holiday operator that gives the active lifestyle customer the complete experience they are looking for during their next summer holiday”.

“We offer anyone – young or old, active or laid-back – who is looking to experience a different kind of holiday, a new feeling of revitalisation and relaxation from their time away.”

The starting price for Crystal Summer 2011 is from £325 for seven nights’ bed & breakfast at the three-star Poblado Apartments in Arinsal in the Andorran Pyrenees departing on 21st and 25th May 2011 from Gatwick inclusive of transfers.
