In 2009, Crystal Ski Holidays pledged to use its influence as the UK’s number one ski specialist to support Disability Snowsport UK by:

  • increasing awareness of disabled skiing and boarding
  • helping to improve access to ski resorts
  • providing practical on-site assistance for disabled skiers.

DSUK Whistler

As the UK’s largest ski tour operator, we wanted to give something back to the community and give disabled people the opportunity to enjoy the sport we at Crystal all love so much: skiing and snowboarding.

We support Disability Snowsport UK because they’re absolutely committed to giving people with disabilities equal access to this wonderful sport – whatever their disability and however accomplished they are on the slopes.

To mark the beginning of the new relationship, Olympic legend Sir Steve Redgrave led a team of brave ski enthusiasts on a charity sky dive with the world-famous Red Devils parachute display team.

Since then, Crystal has raised well over £240,000 through numerous events, including annual Santa Runs, which involve fancy dress Santas running through London’s Battersea Park and taking part in the annual National Skiathon as well as organised events overseas in resorts by our teams. We also ask our customers to contribute £1 (or more if they wish) to the charity and many are very supportive.

Crystal also supports DSUK’s Overseas Activity Weeks where members both old and new travel to some of the best resorts in Europe and North America to test themselves on the slopes. The weeks always attract a mix of seasoned disabled skiers and boarders and those new to the sport, with dedicated tuition and support available at all times, creating a truly special holiday experience.

Disability Snowsport UK chief executive Fiona Young said, “It’s fantastic that Crystal are working in partnership with DSUK. Our vision is ‘skiers & snowboarders with a disability should be able to ski alongside the able bodied as equals at all ski facilities and resorts’. With the help of Crystal and its customers this can became a reality!”
